The trouble with always trying to preserve the health of the body is that it is so difficult to do without destroying the health of the mind.  ~G.K. Chesterton

When I created my blog back in December, I was accepting an oath with myself to be healthy. At first it was this idea to lose weight and get in shape. That is the easiest way to consider ones self “healthy.” But as I have been going along my journey, it has warped into something different:

Am I healthy as a whole person? How is my mental well-being?

When I stand outside of myself, looking in the answer is still no. I don’t see that much changing any time soon, but I am working on it. It’s all part of the journey to be a well-rounded healthy person.

Any time a person accepts a treaty with themselves to give up certain parts of their lives for something better there are struggles. My struggles have been pretty huge because last year I gave up a lot of things to lose weight and I did. But the part about giving up certain things (for me it was sweets, desserts, basically junky food) when you finally allow yourself to have just ONE, it opens a can of worms. So as I have been back on my journey, I have been struggling very much with a huge can of worms.

My other big struggle is exercise. When I finish work for the day, the last thing I want to do is hit the gym. I want to go home, crawl into bed and watch television or take a nap; basically anything other than workout. I recently joined the boot camp class at my gym and I have been loving it! I paid a big chunk of change to participate so that keeps me going. Also, having a class of other people working out as well helps me to keep going! The class runs for ten weeks and I am really excited to see the results.

So, all of the above being said, I am taking part in some work for charity:water. My dear friend Erica and I made a pledge to donate $1 for every pound we lose until September. I am personally hoping to lose 20 pounds.

Almost a billion people on the planet don’t have access to clean drinking water. Unsafe water and a lack of basic sanitation cause 80% of all disease and kill more people than all forms of violence, including war. charity:water website.

Why should you consider donating to Charity:Water? Here’s the deal: You get to drink a glass of clean water every day. Or eight, as recommended. As you can see from the factoid above, not having clean water kills. If you donate just $20, one person can have clean water for twenty years

Just take a minute to think about what you spend twenty dollars on each week and consider if just one time you can give up that twenty dollars. That twenty dollars could be a matter of life and death for someone without clean water.

So take one moment, and donate.

Someone’s life depends on it.

Losing weight really makes anyone healthy. I agree to you but i think a proper diet and workouts are really necessary to achieve it. Diet may include soluble fiber foods, veggies and fruits. For physical workouts yoga is recommended.
