in Weight Loss

If you look at the chart on the right (assuming you’re on my site) you’ll see that I’ve not only dropped below 340 pounds but also I’ve dropped past my trend goal weight line. This means I’m back on track to my goal weight of 284 pounds by Halloween morning.

I swear to you that I’m eating enough food, the right food, and I’m not starving myself. From yesterday morning I lost two pounds. I ate two farm fresh eggs with toast for breakfast. Two #3′s with no mayo from Jimmy John’s for lunch and a chocolate chip cookie, and for dinner I had some whole wheat pasta with balsamic vinegar sauce, sliced cherry tomatoes, fresh cut basil, and fake crab meat. I had TWO plates of it.

Why am I so surprised? For the last two or three weekends I’ve been watching what I eat, but generally am more relaxed about what I’m actually eating. This also explains why there are periodic gaps in dates in my 5 day chart.

Weird how I drop two pounds in a day and don’t cheer, but rather get defensive over what I’m doing. I guess I just wanted to make sure for myself that I’m doing this healthy. I haven’t been going to the gym much (read: not at all) for a few weeks because most likely I’m lazy (read: busy doing non-workout stuff). Yet I still managed to lose 4.6 pounds over the last week due to watching what I eat really closely.

You can check out my progress on my published Google Spreadsheet: Dez’s Weight Tracker

No need to justify anything; weight loss is just weird sometimes. You might do everything “right” one week, including lots of exercise, and gain a pound. The next week you might “cheat” and lose five. As long as things as trending in the right direction and you’re doing things in a healthy way, there’s not much to worry about.

Emily’s right. Keep in mind that muscle weighs more than fat, so if you’re doing exercise that builds muscle, you may see that gain a pound here and there. The good thing is that as you add muscle, it’ll help you burn fat more efficiently and your overall trend will stay in the right direction. Keep up the great work!

From one big guy to another… keep going at it slow and regular. I’ve plateaued after about 80 pound loss and know that more activity is the key to break new ground for me. I also keep in mind that 1 quart of liquid equals about 2 pounds, so fluctuating 2-4 pounds for me may just mean I’m between hydration requirements. Regaining the control of healthy eating is a winning goal by itself, the lost weight is icing on the cake :) I wish you the best at meeting your goal!
