There’s an awesome series of videos on Youtube titled “The Googling”. The series is a mixture of M. Night Shyamalan’s “The Happening” regarding the mystery, comedy through irony, and actual useful tips on different services that Google offers.
There are five videos in the series. Each one of them covers a different service. They are pretty funny and in total it takes about 15 minutes to go through each of them.

This video is about Google’s Street View, which allows you use Google Maps to see images of the location you are searching with using their Maps application. It would definitely be creepy to have Street View in your house, and while it will be a long time (hopefully never) before there is a Live Street View it could be getting closer with Mashable’s rumor about Google inside store views using Street View. “Google Street View to Add Store Interiors? [RUMOR]”
Google Sky is a service that allows you to view the universe around us. Using images gained from multiple sources they have recreated the sky above us and given us a chance to see the sky in xray or infrared views. Of course, the moon is an object and Google has mapped out the moon by allowing another Google service, Google Earth, users the ability to see Apollo missions mapped out. Hopefully none of that actually took place in Burbank, CA like some people think. “Wikipedia: Moon Landing Conspiracy Theories”
Hmm… Google My Maps allowing you to see the future in different colors. My Maps is a service that allows you to pin specific locations that you want to find easily again in the future, or in the case of the video’s character; his history with his girlfriend (nice thought).
Google SMS allows people with phones that don’t browse the web easily access to localized search results. Just text 466453 (GOOGLE) what you’re looking for and the zip code or city that you’re in and you’ll get search results back via text. It’s a pretty cool quick search tool for smart phone users that don’t have the best coverage at the moment. Don’t worry, the service doesn’t randomly send you messages and even if it did, I doubt it would be as creepy.
One of the worst parts about not having a phone that can browse the web smoothly or use apps easily is that there isn’t as much convenience. Google Mobile allows you to use your nearly-smart phone to go to a mobile site to get directions, youtube links, mail and search. If the service could track moving objects like an ice cream van or the taco truck it’d be that much cooler… hopefully it’s not the Street View mascot driving (View the end of that page).
