Fostering Creativity

When I was in high school we had plenty of opportunities for being creative. Plenty of outlets for our imaginations to run wild, but the outcomes were mostly limited to the local community. There’s something to be said about having the ability to post something to the world and let it take off on its own. How else would Fred have become popular. I’m pretty sure he’s a class clown without Youtube, but he’s been able to give another persona complete coverage and freedom.

As most of you know that have been reading here or following me on Twitter… I’m a Glee fan/addict/obbsessor. So when I saw that a musical lip dub contest had been setup and reciprocated by a few high schools in Washington state I was watching immediately. If you aren’t sure what a lip dub is click here.

Shorecrest High School was the challenger posting a lip dub that went over their entire high school and was to the tune of “Hey Ya” by Outkast.

Shorewood was challenged to create a lip dub video as well. In my opinion it was a much better done video with one extra surprise for the viewer (psst… it was shot backwards).

Either way, with the ability for kids and adults alike to be able to share their ideas with the world (good or bad) it’s a win for everyone.

Happy New Year’s Eve, interweb readers.
