Verizon Droid vs. TMobile MyTouch 3G

in Testing

I have been given an opportunity to try out and review the new phone by Verizon (available 11/6/2009) called the Droid. I have the phone until Monday (11/2/2009) and since I have Google Voice I’m going to be using it as my primary phone (cause I don’t have to tell everyone a new phone number). The following video is a quick preview into some of the tests and reviews I’m going to do against it. Keep in mind that the myTouch is running the Android OS v. 1.6 (donut) while the Droid is running the Android OS v. 2.0 (eclair). This may slightly tilt the time in myTouch’s favor with all the new stuff coming out in 2.0.

Start times are long for both phones with 14 applications going at startup. The Droid starts up in 37 seconds with the myTouch 3G starting up in 55 seconds .

(full disclosure: I have been given a Droid temporarily by Verizon’s Public Relations Department. I have to turn the phone in at a certain date. I’m not being reimbursed for my time or for this and subsequent posts. I am not a Verizon Wireless customer at this time)

I’m sure both phones would boot faster with modifications, however both phones were setup as a normal user would have them setup from the manufacturer.
