Had a bunch of firsts this weekend. Three actually. The first two happened at the same event on Saturday evening in Minneapolis. My dear friend Beth and her (now) wife Lisa were married in a beautiful ceremony and reception. Beth’s dad made a very heartwarming speech about the differences between partnership and marriage. I don’t have the quote (I wish I did), but the definition of partnership didn’t include the words friendship or love. I don’t think I need to elaborate on my position on this sometimes heated issue, but these two should be able to be civilly recognized as a married couple. Best of luck to both of the beautiful brides. The second first was having never been to a Jewish wedding.

On Sunday, Megan and I took off to Dawson to tend to some housecleaning efforts that I needed help with. Nothing at all like what I dealt with last November, but I did have some construction trash and some random stuff that needed to be disposed of from the house before getting down to cleaning the place or continuing with the renovation effort (I’m hoping for the first one since that means I’m selling it).
We ended up having quite a bit of fun again at the farm. Megan found a litter of four kittens and ended up getting them to befriend her by the time we left this morning. Obviously I had to be the one to put my foot down so that she didn’t cart one home with us (I have a soft spot for farm kittens).

On our way back today we were driving through Darwin, MN, and I realized that I had never actually seen the worlds biggest ball of twin wound by a single man. So I turned off Highway 12 and a few blocks down is this really big ball of twine. I was impressed by the fact that one man did this, but the presentation of it was a little underwhelming. However, it is a mainstay and almost must stop for anyone visiting Minnesota or already living in because it’s a freakin’ ball of twine in a glass box. I can’t think of a good excuse not to.
I had a really good labor day weekend, and I’m tired out from it, but luckily I took tomorrow off to get myself back on center before heading back to work on Wednesday.Hope your Labor Day weekend was good as well.
