Updated: This is no longer valid. Removing links.
I’ve been writing at a bunch of different blogs lately. The reason was to keep the noise on this blog down to things that were more personal and less about my software testing/teaching/social media related posts. I studied some of the trends that I had seen on here before changing stuff around. I had also made the promise a while back to remove all ads from this blog because, well, it’s a personal blog, and why would they be necessary. With the exception of the Charity/Good Cause advertisement that you see if you visit my home page I have stayed with that. I realize how trivial this is for those of you reading that subscribe to a lot of blogs. As always I thank you for reading. Below I’ll list the different feeds you can subscribe to on this site if you decide that you don’t want to see every single post. I’ve trimmed my category list down to only top-level categories.
A lot of this is experimental for me. I only started blogging regularly back in January of this year, and I find the evolution of my ideas interesting. This is the reason I’m sharing this with you. You’ll see mentions of ads being placed in some of the posts or the sidebar of the category. I hate hate HATE intrusive advertising and will not subject you to it (popups, pre-rolls or overly large). Also, except for the occasional Adsense ad, all the ads have been picked by me through another publisher source to be relevant to that specific category of posts. I am using a randomizer for these ad displays.
Everything: http://feeds.feedburner.com/iamdez
This is the current feed. I’m going to keep this with everything for those of you that want to read all my stuff (thank you for that also).
Social Posts: http://feeds.feedburner.com/dezsocial / http://iamdez.com/categories/social
The posts here will have a social media twist, whether about twitter, facebook, linkedin, or other stories about sites that engage the social aspect of the web. These will not be ‘news’ type posts, and therefore probably won’t be timely, but will mostly be a collection of my comments on stories I read elsewhere. I’ve recently been asked a lot of questions about how to do things, what to/not to do, and I may have some how-to posts in here as well. These posts will have ads appearing in them and also ads in the sidebar if visiting the category page.
Testing Posts: http://feeds.feedburner.com/iamdeztesting / http://iamdez.com/testing
These posts involve software testing procedures, bugs in the wild that I find, or just thoughts on development cycles, process, and testing how-to’s. These posts will have ads appearing in them and also ads in the sidebar if visiting the category page.
Teaching Posts: http://feeds.feedburner.com/iamdezteaching / http://iamdez.com/teaching
Writings about music instruction, cool music stuff that I find, or stories about my personal experience with music. These posts will have ads appearing in them and also ads in the sidebar if visiting the category.
Personal Posts: http://feeds.feedburner.com/iamdezpersonal / http://iamdez.com/personal
This area is my personal stuff only. Anything marked in this category will not contain in-post ads. Only the charity/good cause ad will be seen on the site, and there will be no ads within the posts or the feed.
I used a very comprehensive list of plug-ins to accomplish the custom items per page so that I could complete this (this ability was a requirement before making the changes I did). If you want to know the plug-ins you can contact me and I’ll give you the names/links to the plug-in site. I’ve donated money to each of them and would rather keep them private until I’ve completely vetted them.
Again, thank you for reading, and I hope you continue to enjoy my posts.
