I’m just going to say: If you haven’t seen the movie, or read the book. You probably shouldn’t read the rest of this. A.K.A Spoiler Alert!
Went to Angels & Demons last night at the Edina AMC Theater. Overall, the movie was done very well. It ran smoothly and didn’t seem to take up the 138 minutes that it was billed to take up. This probably has to do with two things: 1) Ron Howard is a genius </fanboy> and 2) I got really into the book and the movie.
I heard a story on the news regarding the fashion choices for Vittoria, but I’m a guy, so I appreciated it. Besides, the book didn’t really detail what she was wearing, so there was the ability tfor a lot of creative input. That’s the one thing that absolutely amazed me. I remember reading the book and imagining the scenes playing out while I was reading. While watching the movie I was amazed at how much I had to remind myself that I hadn’t seen the movie yet. Especially the Water death scene. I really was impressed at how much the movie reminded me of the book, even though I’ve never been to Rome, and could not tell you the location of most things in Rome.
I was a little disappointed that they didn’t show the part from the book where Langdon actually jumped from the helicopter and used the window cover as a parachute. That was the one change that I did really notice (and care about), but I bet they had the approval of Brown and it probably helped keep the movie shorter than otherwise.
Overall the story was good, and the fact that Howard enjoys making movies correctly made the 2 hours fly by.
