Huge mistake or fraud: American deported to Mexico (Updated)

I received an email from Jake regarding an update to this story.  Apparently it is still ongoing, but another blogger has picked up the story.  You can read the ongoing saga here: States Without Nations

Original story at: http://adjix.com/56n5

Thanks to @adoerr for this one, but seriously, this is ridiculous.  Although it would have been nice to see the journalist (Jake Bialer) have a conversation with the INS or with the agent that signed his deportation order.  Even a “no comment” statement would have been better than nothing.  Either way, this story is a bit heartbreaking not just because the man is disabled, but because he is an American and was completely passed up because of either a lack of communication or a complete disregard for policies that are in place for this exact reason.

After working in a prison for 2 years, I know how easy it can be to ignore what inmates say to you.  But he was ignored by the very person who is supposed to not only take all of his records into account but also what he has to say.  From the story, it sounds like what he had to say was completely ignored.  I’m going to keep looking for updates in this story, and I’ll be happy to read what the INS says about this.

Good luck to Daniel and his family.  Also, if the story reveals that there was a complete break-down of the system due to fraud or just a power trip, I hope something is done about it.
