Yahoo recently officially annouced the closing of GeoCities.

I can’t find the official press release, but they have info in help.yahoo.com

One of the original sites I ever put together was on GeoCities and another on Angelfire.  I checked, neither of my sites exist anymore.

I suppose with the rise of sites like blogger and wordpress that offer a cleaner look to sites out of the box this was bound to happen.
